Can Alternative/Natural medicine help?

I am unable to take any hormone therapy because of bleeding and now have vaginitus and am in much discomfort.  Would a natural hormone help?  Should I see a Urologist or a OBGYN?
Thank You

There are no "natural" hormones.  There are plants that act to stimulate certain hormonal processes in the body, and there are synthetic hormones derived from plants, such as those from Mexican wild yam.  They are more natural than pharmaceutical products, but still have to be altered to look and act like human hormones.  There are a lot of plants out there that do have an effect on hormonal balance, such as cohosh, vitex, tang kwei, etc., but they are best used in combinations.   But if you have bleeding problems, that will complicate the use of plant medicine as well, and you'll have to consult an expert, though I'm not sure what bleeding problems to which you refer and how they are affected by hormones.  As for vaginitis, that term includes a lot of different things, and treatment depends on how serious it is.  Most minor problems can be dealt with without antibiotics, and antibiotics can make such problems chronic by harming the natural flora in the vagina that protects it from invasion.  You sound like you're out of balance in several ways, and it would probably benefit you to see a naturopath as well as a physician so you can decide what's going on and how to proceed.

Good diet and good vitamin and mineral regimen would be a great place to start before even doing the natural supplements meant to help with menopause and post menopause.  You can do this even before seeing the OB/GYN.  There are certain natural things you might be able to use, but I do believe seeing the doctor first would still be the best way of knowing where to start with these additional supplements.
