like one above poster said a full blown gallbladder attack is real bad I had one you dont ever want to go down that road...the gb surgery has improved so over the past 2 decades no more 8 inch scar just a few tiny lap incisions,,,i was told not to lift anything to heavy for a while and I really felt back to normal by day 3 medium pain not to bad,,,anestesiologist  and surgeons deal with blood clot fears or possible problems as a consideration with every surgery...If you are not given a peek-flo meter post op ask for one,,,its good to use and reduces risk of pulmonary clots as you seem to be concerned...C

You go girl.

Forgot to mention that the gas the others mentioned was relieved relatively easily by walking.  Yep, I spent a good share of the night walking the halls, but everyone got to know me and we had as much fun as one can have in those circumstances.  I had drugs prescribed for pain to - morphine to start with, but that does really weird stuff to me so I refused it - once I got up and moved, I didn't really need anything else.

Hang in there.  You'll be okay and we'll be here for you when it's over.

You'll do just fine.  I had my GB out in 2005.  They did it laproscopically (sp?) and I had 5 tiny (about 1" long) incisions.  They did the surgery late in the day - around 4:00 so I did have to spend the night in the hospital but got to come home first thing in the morning.  Was back to normal activity the day after I got home except no heavy lifting and no driving for a week.

If getting my thyroid issues and weight back under control was that easy, I'd have it made!!

Good luck and don't be scared.

Please check everything you take with your doctor.  Natto is a fermented soy product.  It's hard to see what would be wrong with it, but who knows?  As for blood clotting products, that's a no no before surgery.  You don't want to interfere with blood flow.  Just let the doctors do what they do best, which is surgery.  And remember, afterwards, you get the good stuff, the demerol and if you're lucky the percodan.  Lovliest stuff I ever took after my one surgery.  And afterwards, there's a Chinese herbal combination called Fu Zheng that helps with recovery.  Herbalist and Alchemist makes a good tincture.

What can I take to ensure I don't get any bloodclots from surgery? I have nattokinase?
Can I take this up to my surgery date?
I am on birthcontrol pills to level out my hormones and that makes me nervous I think. :)
I know that I cannot take any blood thinning products right now.
Nattokinase is a dissolving enzyme if I remember correctly.
Yes I agree with the probiotics....I will look it up. I take one in the billion count....just not faithfully every day.
Yes no fatty foods for a while. lol
I have a great product to take for not having gallbladder. It has all the enzymes, HCL, and ox bile in it. I may change over to Webozyme though after surgery. They are the best in the world from what I am reading. Doctors in other countries us them with pretty much miraculous results!

Laura,
Ever since I had brain surgery and 6 blood clots and those factors for having clots when I go to the DR. my Blood pressure hits the roof!
as we get older we expect things to get worse I just want to make it so my grandchildren remember me!

I suggest after your surgery with your Dr. ok take Dynamic Health
Lactobacillus Acidophilus 10 Billion live Cells and take Fiber
I recomend the brand Konsile (not sure on the spelling )
I have my wife take take them.
and watch you intake of greasy foods! you know no GB

Thank you for the reminder! :)
Yes I will be fine!!!!!!!!!!!   I have not fulfilled my purpose here yet, so God cannot take me yet! :)
Keep hollering it at me when i get weak!  Keep praying for me to overcome this fear that I never use to have. I use to be fearless....especially with surgery....I have had many tumor surgeries. Why do we develope these fears as we get older? Maybe it is because I am a single mom.
Thank you!!!!!!

THIS IS A COPY AND PAST:-)))  YOU WILL BE FINE!!
Laura,
My wife had her gallbladder removed a few years back they did a lapiroscopy  the only pain she had was the gas in her body,
they put gas in so the other organs are separated to remove it. to relieve the gas and pain they have you walk
you take care of this NOW!! and don't fool around!!!!
what was painful for my wife was when she had 18" of her intestine removed but she ok, and you will be ok!
keep us informed Please, and you're in our prayers

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers!
Yes I have had GB attack and couldn't move! lol  Aweful!
Did you have a hard time breathing in?? I can't seem to get a full breath in easily. Almost feels like it is caused by diaphragm or something pushing on it or applying pressure down there. Then only thing that helps is laying down.

Hi! I wrote on another post to you.. but you are going to feel SO much better!!  I had GB surgery 1 1/2 years ago.
My experience was good. I had very little pain/gas but I got up and walked the days following the surgery. I think I only had pain meds for few days during daytime and then a week more at night just to get a good night's sleep. Went back to work after 2 weeks, just no heavy lifting for a month.
The only negative experience I had was nausea and vomiting afterwards, so they almost kept overnight. But I  was given morphine for pain in recovery room...I have.never had morphine before and the dr. believes that is what caused my nausea/vomiting.
Once I was home and settled into my own bed I was much better.
I think you will do terriffic... I would say go for it... you will be tired for a while..and sore.. but nothng that I felt was intolerable. or I regretted.
Have you ever had a real GB attack.??.. I had ONE... and never, again. It was by far the most pain I have EVER had... and I have  had 3 children. After thatGB experience I could not wait to get the darn thing gone.!!!

Good luck. wishing you a speedy recovery, we keep you in our prayers!!!
