cholestrol lowering

I have elevated cholesterol in Australia my level is 5.8 normal is 3-
5.5, so just out of the normal range, my tryglerides are low, all other tests are good, and don't want to take
Medication if possible, e.g. cholesterol lowering drugs if I can. I have low blood pressure. I have been
having the plant sterol supplements has 450mg of plant sterol per
tablet,take 4 per day,also have been having the skim milk with plant sterols in it,
which in Australia is 1% fat and has the plant sterol in it also, I
don't mind the plant milk, but can't stand the margarine.

I take high does of fish oil (omega Liquid fish oil about 4 grams,
which is 12mls per day, have for years, also take garlic tablets,
have pysillum husk every day, have done that for

Year. I eat oats/oatbran with prunes or berries every day, plus
cinnamon on my oats for breakfast,

Any other advice would be great. I exercise every day 44yrs female,
not overweight. My Dr wants me to take cholesterol medication, but
I want to keep trying the plant sterols was only on them for 2-3
weeks when I had the test, on the box says takes 4-8 weeks for levels
to change.

Great stuff here I am busy writing out that list you gave, I will not take their Drugs ,I have had too many bad experiences each time I have done, I go the Natural Remedy route now, any one know how I can soothe and get rid of Hives, came on In Mid May after Dental work .also I get Dermographism with the Urticaria,It is very hot where I live but although the heat doesnt help it is not the cause.

Dear freind.
You cholesterol is OK. Do not worry...the standards are designated by doctors and they are telling people we shoild take medication to lower our cholesterol. BS I say. We do not need it unless is very high otherwise you are just destroying your liver. You are doing everything right and please do not worry about .3 hike in your numbers. Every year depending on anticholesterol drug sells the cholesterol range levels are hiked up or lowered.
Kepp on doing what you are doing and stay away from any medication at all.
My cholesterol LDL is 4.77 RANGE IS 0.00 TO 3.40    and I am not taking anything. WHY?!!  I switched my diet to very lean diet and I am excercising  and I am OK with it.
Read about antycholesterol drugs and what they do to your liver ...your hair will stand up.

I love what Hava recommended. Also, remember the cause of cholesterol is often smoking, caffeine, stress, the pill, refined sugar, food additives, and environmental pollutants.

Things to help lower Cholesterol:

Barley
Vitamin C (1,000mg 3 x day)
Cayenne pepper
Chromium (up to 3 200 mcg tablets daily)
Corn bran
Cruciferous vegetables (brocoli, cauliflower, brussel sprouts)
Eggplant
Fenugreek seed (not to be used during pregnancy
Fiber (25-30 grams daily)
Fish oils
Garlic (1 capsule 3 x day) or fresh but do not cook for more than a few minutes
Ginger (1 capsule 3 x day) or fresh
Green tea (1 tablet 3 x day) or green tea
N-acetylcystein (NAC) (500 mg 3 x daily)
Niacin (Use "no flush" 500mg 3 x daily with food)
Oat bran
Onions
Pecti9n (apples, grapefruit)
Polyunsaturated oils (sunflower, corn, safflower)
Prunes
Psyllium husk (3 rounded tsp daily)
Raw carrots
Red pepper
Rice bran
Soybeans and soy foods
Vitamin E
Whole grains
Yogurt (plain and organic prefered)

It looks like you have a lot of things to work on to help lower your cholesterol. Good for you wanting to go the natual way I only wish more people felt the same way you do. Please let us know how things progress for you.

Do this and you will see the cholestrol lower in the next test and you will not need any medicine.Continue the exercises once a day to stay healthy and away from medicine.Come back to post your progress to encourage others.
You need to help your body to build up your immune system.The breathing exercises - pranayam is a holistic approach creating extra oxygen supply in the body and will slowly help with the health problem.Do the pranayam to see the benefits.Build up your timing slowly and after two weeks at the suggested duration you will start to notice benefits.

Bhastrika - Take a long deep breath into the lungs(chest not tummy) via the nose and then completely breathe out through the nose.Duration upto 5 minutes.

Kapalbhati -(Do it before eating) Push air forcefully out through the nose about once per second. Stomach will itself go in(contract in). The breathing in(through the nose) will happen automatically. Establish a rhythm and do for upto 30 minutes twice a day.(Max 60 min/day) Not for pregnant women. Seriously ill people do it gently.

Anulom Vilom - Close your right nostril with thumb and deep breath-in through left nostril  
then – close left nostril with two fingers and breath-out through right nostril  
then -keeping the left nostril closed  deep breath-in through right nostril
then - close your right nostril with thumb and breath-out through left nostril.
This is one cycle of anulom vilom.
Repeat this cycle for 20 to 30  minutes twice a day(maximum 60 minutes in one day).
You can do this before breakfast/lunch/dinner or before bedtime or in bed.Remember to take deep long breaths into the lungs.You can do this while sitting on floor or chair or lying in bed.


Bhramri Pranayam -Close eyes. Close ears with thumb, index finger on forehead, and rest three fingers on base of nose touching eyes. Breathe in through nose. And now breathe out through nose while humming like a bee.
Duration : 5 to 10 times

Only by doing you will benefit and will feel good that you can do something to help the body.Copy and print this to master the technique.This is  simplified pranayam for everyone and you do not have to go to classes to learn. This is for life unlike short term classes where you do it in the class then stop when classes are over.

I wonderf what the cause is of your cholesterol as you sound like you are health. Otherwise my concerns would be take out saturated and hydroginated fats and thats great you have your omegas. The other remedies for cholesterol are eat tons of vegetables and fruits! Stay away from any processed foods like fast foods, canned or packaged foods. Try keeping you fats down to 20-30% of you daily calorie intake avoiding satuated fats.
