You presume to tell me how I feel do ya? I can speak for myself thankyou and I think I made myself perfectly clear. I dont need you or anyone else putting words in my mouth.
I think I got what you're getting at. You don't care where the money comes from, you don't even want to learn anything about the process....but the money just has to be there.
Be prepared for a situation very similar to Katrina.
So, we will agree to disagree then. You can lead a horse to water but you cannot make them drink. It is more about the morals and putting people over the all mighty bucks, but obviously you guys know nothing about what I am talking about so fine. Done here.
Oh boy..... I am dumber now. I took the bait and looked at the other link. What the good democratic representative from Louisiana forgot to mention while being interviewed on the "Ed Show" is.... the funding that will try to fill the giant erroneous gap that FEMA created will come from other programs.... a lot of different programs, and IT HAPPENS ALL OF THE TIME!
So I am now right. This thread had nothing to do with the posted link. It does however have everything to do with what Cantor said and what his secretary put out...... got it. Man, I really made a smacked *** out of my self thinking the whole time we were talking about the article that started this thread....
Oh, I know... maybe we should get it from the RICH people!
So lets just print more money?
What's YOUR answer to this "where are we going to get the money from" question, Teko?
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/vp/44336172#44322246
Pretty much tells it from my stance.... and no the article is not bogus.
I don’t know. I guess rather than admit the article is Bogus, we are going to start jumping all over the place.
So were talking about everything that Cantor ever did and not the clip?
Bleat, bleat... said the sheep.
But dont feel bad in not understanding my view, cause I sure aint gettin yours either.
What you are not getting, is this. This is not the ONLY article out there commenting on this issue. Many before this one. Take your pick. He was slinging this mess before the hurricane even hit, and back when the earthquakes and tornados going. If you cannot see how politics is being played here at the peoples expense, that is sad.
We have disasters every single year and problems funding Fema and others. Every single year. This is not a first other than how you have people playing politics and bringing the focus on them instead of just doing what we have always done in taking care of people in a crisis. My point is that this guy has all of a sudden developed a conscious for the deficit. Where was it before and how come he got it now? Politics. They want you to know Fema will only get what they dicide she gets. In other words they are weilding their power over the purse strings at the peoples expense. This was always taken care of before without all that so why now.
Yeah teko, I watched the clip. That is precisely what we've been talking about.... all of us. Now you've changed gears to some notices that his secretary sent out. Okay, so give me the links and I'll be more than happy to talk about that stuff too.
You're ripping the guy to shreds and are acting like I am defending him. I simply said that what he said in the clip that your link provided was common sense, was how things work in DC, and that he answered a question.
I must no be following you.
” You are looking at one clip where fox is trying to pull him out of the hole he had already dug for himself and make him look a little cleaner is all”. Are you referring to the clip in the article? If you were, why would the righter choose this clip that contradicts his article? I am also having a hard time following you on the Political Agenda. It doesn’t matter to me if he was a Republican or Democrat, what he said was nothing but common since.
“ Take your party affiliation out of the story and take a few hours to look at all of the misappropriated monies used and still being used in the aftermath of Katrina”
Here in Louisiana, we still have Hundreds if not Thousands of FEMA Trailers that are just sitting in fields. A lot of them have never been lived in. It is estimated FEMA bought about 145,000 of these trailers at about $20,000.00 a pop (not counting the cost of having them hauled). Now they are Auctioning them off. A friend of mine bought one (never used, completely furnished, including Kitchen and Air Conditioning) a couple of weeks ago, to use for a hunting Camp. He paid $2,500.00 for it.
I read that the average cost of refurbishing the used trailers was about $1,500. Why are these trailers not refurbished by the Government and reused? The first thing we need to do is get FEMAs wasteful spending under control.
Oh you watched the clip did you? Did you read the notices his secretary or whoever put out before the hurricane even hit, the warning he gave about not covering when the earthquakes hit, or the tornados. You are looking at one clip where fox is trying to pull him out of the hole he had already dug for himself and make him look a little cleaner is all. Politics is what it is, then the backlash, now fox doing damage control. Why? cause people are pssd! Badly pssd is why.
Timing issue? I just watched the beginning of the clip 4 times. The man was asked a question regarding this issue and his beliefs pertaining to the issue. How is that a timing issue that can be blamed on him? What was he supposed to do, say "I'll get back to that in a few weeks or a month."?
If he would have said something along the lines of, "the east coast deserved that disaster", then yeah... crucify the guy. He simply answered a question in real time pertaining to how things happen in DC. Go ahead and hang the messenger, I guess.
No the timing has to do with POLITICS. This has always been something that was taken care of without all of the hullabaloo. Again, just like the debt ceiling being raised withoud further ado, (as long as it was a Republican), this too follows the same path. Of course if your a republican your gonna bow to your base. If your not a Republican, you can clearly see this is all politics in the play. They gotta think of some way to keep our minds off the jobs that were promised.
I know, and it's not that he is wrong. I don't know, it just didn't seem right at that point in time is all. I mean, imagine how you might feel if you were trapped in some town that all access had been cut off to. You had no clean water and little food, and you hear a politician saying "yeah, we need to rescue them, but the President needs to figure out how we are going to pay for it". I know that is not a direct quote or anything, but it's just sort of the message that I got from it. I mean, I would be a little upset. I don't think his statements are catastrophic, just a bit distasteful at that point and time.
All the poor guy said was, 'the money has to come from somewhere', and all of a sudden he's the devil and is politicizing the issue, and holding people hostage?
He's right... the money has to come from SOMEWHERE. If Houston gets hit by a storm, as is likely in the upcoming weeks, the money for our recovery will have to come from SOMEWHERE.
That's all he said, and that's all I'M saying... the $$$ has to come from SOMEWHERE.
Lol, ok, that makes sense. But still...don't you think it might have been better to save the speech? I mean, it sort of feels a little like he is politicizing a really tragic event.
Don’t quote me on this but the timing may have to do with FEMA running out of funds.
