Mouth Pain

I have been having pain in two of the 'ridges' in the roof of my mouth for quite some time now.  One of them is the one is in the center that runs between the front two teeth and the other is next to it.  They are slightly swollen and sore (I tend to rub my tongue on them a lot lately).  I have also noticted a small pump next to one of the ridges and a small bump in my gums between one of my front teeth and side tooth that is greyish/deep read.  My gums are not bleeding, and it's only the ridges that hurt, not the gums around them (or not that I have noticed when I rub my tongue on them.

This pain has been ongoing for close to two months now.  I was tested for HIV in October (negative) after a brief exposure (23 days before my negative test) which my doctor indicated (and so did Dr. Hansfield) that I didn't really need testing for that exposure at all.

I have noticed that I have virtually no pain in the morning when I wake up, it comes on more as the day progresses.  Some days are more painful than others.  I am a smoker and I quit smoking cigarettes (today) and I have not yet cut out my fat free vanilla latte in the morning, which I'm wondering if that could have anything to do with it.

Any suggestions on what this could be or who I should see for this issue?

Thank you.

All of a sudden , my gums have started hurting. At first it was a light pain and now I am having spats of severe pain especially in the right lower side of my gums. Any one know what it is and what I can do to clear the pain?

I also failed to mention that the gums in front of my front two teeth also have been bothering me at the same time.

It does not hurt to eat or drink, and actually, after I do eat or drink the pain subsides for some time.

This doesn't sound like an STD does it?

i doubt it has anything to d w HIV. you may have periodontal (gum related) problems around your teeth, and in yor  ase perhaps the front teeth. You need to see a dentist, have the area xrayed and probed for periodontal pocketing. if pocketing is minimal, you may just need a good cleanning. regardless, it should be checked out

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
My suggestion would be to have a dentist do a thorough comprehensive exam tp determine if you have any conditions causing your symptoms.
