I had #32 Wisdom tooth, lower right, removed 10 days ago, then 5 days ago had #31 molar removed next to it as it had a 4mm cavity. My gums are sore too in that area and my other teeth hurt from different chewing patterns. I have been on amoxicillan before having the wisdom tooth removed and right after and then on penicillan after the extraction of my molar next to that. I have stitches and I think my muscles in my gums are what is aching from the suitures. I take motrin every 6 hours and am trying to gradually reduce the amount of motrin I take to reduce the pain. I am presently doing 400mg every 6 hours. I think that once the suitures are removed maybe the pain will calm down. People don't generally talk about such things much. Maybe it is because there is soo much pain.?
Yeah, something could be wrong. I ran into complications myself. 2 days after surgery I went back to the dentist and found I had a dry socket. They did what they usually do placing special medicated strips in the sockets. After a week on mine I can now pretty much chew soft things such as cake if I take it slow. Anyways my symptoms were pulsating pain in my jaw acompanied with excessive swelling and a lingering fowl taste. You may want to insist on your dentist if he blows things off I'd suggest getting looked at by another dentist.
sounds like there is an infection present. Is your "dentist" an oral surgeon??? If not, I's suggest you see an oral surgeon asap. If he is an oral surgeon, I would call asap and tell him you are getting worse, not better.
I think by this time the swelling should have abated. I would suggest you see an oral surgeon asap.
