SEVERE pain after 3 fillings - help!

I have had perfect teeth my entire life - after a recent pregnancy I went to the dentist and he told me I have 3 fairly shallow cavities that needed to be filled. I had no pain or any other issues whatsoever with these teeth(14, 15, and 16). After he filled them (composite), I had crazy, intense pain in the general area where these teeth are that would shoot through my entire left side of my face, jaw, and cheek (on the left side only). I think my recent childbirth was easier than enduring this pain for weeks on end!

I went to one endodontist - they could not locate the problem tooth/teeth and said to keep taking motrin several times a day to deal with the intense pain until the problem resolved itself or got worse. It got worse, so I visited another endodontist who thought he found the problem tooth and performed a root canal on it(#15). Well now it's 6 weeks post-fillings and 1 week post root canal and the intense pain is back and is ubearable! It is managable if I take motrin and tylenol ALL day long but I really want to fix this and get my life back!! They want to do another root canal this week and possibly do them on both the remaining teeth - HELP!

white composite fillings are notorious for causing sensitivity in teeth, For this reason, I rarely place them when cosmetics is not an issue. For future reference. IF you had perfect teeth your whole life, and then all of the sudden have 3 cavities in a row, that should ring a warnng bell !!!  Second opinion time !!! I'm not saying the "cavities" weren't there, but it just seems odd. I would certianly want them removed, and sedative fillings placed. OR, amalgam (silver fillngs) with a sedative base. Again these are back teeth and no one will ever see them. remember, endodontists do root canals. If I were you I'd get another opinion from a general dentist and have these fillings removed before allowing any root canals.

The first thing I would do is get those fillings out of your teeth and place sedative fillings in them.If the cavities were shallow I do not understand the need for any root canal therapy at this time. I would consider getting another opinion from another generalist.
