Can somebody help me?!?! :'(

Hi everyone,

I started taking Bupropion (Wellbutrin) a month ago. I abruptly stopped taking it two days ago. The 1st day was because i forgot and i just didnt bother taking it today. All of a sudden tonight i was perfectly fine and then i got extremely angry. I want to punch or break something at this point. I have never been this angry and its not like me to get to the point where im this angry. I went on it for depression and anxiety. Can anybody tell me if there are any side effects?

Going through your doctor is the proper thing to do.  Even with "natural" remedies, there can be some violent interactions with conventional medicine and the doctor needs to know what your plan is.

I believe in the time and place for natural remedies, but just because they are natural doesn't mean there are no side effects either.  When dealing with depression, a pill, a tea, a salve is not going to solve the problem by itself.  You have to find what is causing the depression and address that.  Without doing that, you are setting yourself up for a failure.

Please, please, please seek the help from a medical professional.  You might have to look around but the greatest place to start looking for help is with your primary care physician.  I know that there is funding available in so many cases, and there are places that work on a "sliding scale" where they look at your income, waive some of the costs, and set up a payment plan.

This is your health we are talking about, and your health is worth something.  Go about this the right way, and now is the time to get moving.

I am sorry to disagree with you, but people should not stop taking medication if it helps with their depression.  5HTP only works on mild depression.

You are obviously one of the lucky ones who does not have an occurence of their depression.  Unfortunately there are people like me who cannot stop anti-depressants because the depression always comes back.  Unless you know a persons background and depression history, do not urge them to stop their anti-depressants.  You may do more harm than good.

Sorry, I am not trying to have a go at you, just want to you know it is not always as easy as it is for you.  I am glad you are well.

Babygurly you must see your doctor, please.

Let us know how you get on.

Don't start taking other meds, even if they are "natural",  Resume your dose of Wellbutrin, that's all you need to do.

You need the medication, I hope you started taking it again.

Hi
Its definately withdrawal how strong was your medication, or mores the point how addictive. These tablets switch part of the brain off its not the pills its what they've done to your body!
I should know i came off cold turkey with venlafluxine through the GP's
fault and now i have slowly weaned off dolsulipin. Its not an easy ride but you will heal say out loud its not me its the tablets ! Withdrawal comes in waves ive had the anger we get rid of one symptom then another one comes in its place but we will heal. Pamper yourself i rub lavender in or put it in a little milk and pour it in the bath.
Get some 5HTP and try them they convert to seretonin of a morning or melatonin of a night. Also avenus sativa tincture have 20 drops in a little water 3 times a day wash in down with some juice.
You will get through this seeit as your body is trying to heal it self !
God Bless

I agree with Brice...keep looking.

Also, from what you described, you really need the meds...which is why you must be vigilant about remembering to take it every day!

Let us know if you find a therapist.

I strongly urge you to look around.  There are so many programs out there and there is funding in so many circumstances.  Be patient and be vigilant.  Start with your doctor.... he/she may know the ins and outs and can point you in the right direction.

I would like to go to a therapist but my insurance doesnt cover anyone around me. The reason i went on the meds was because i was extremely depressed to the point where i would no longer get out of med, i dropped almost 30 pounds in about 2 months because i wasnt eating, i was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and have thought numerous times about committing suicide. I would like to go to therapy but as i said my insurance will not cover one. The cheapest one i have found so far is $450 a session. I currently got laid off, and am living off of my fiance which makes it 10 times harder as i hate to ask him for money or anything else. I am planning on going back to the doctor at some point this week but they are not open on weekends so i have to wait until tomorrow morning to call them.

Brice, I most appreciated your advice to Babygurl about therapy for your anxiety and depression. It sounds like you would like to be med-free and therapy is the best way to get there.  I'm wondering if your physician set you up with a therapist yet? Or do you need to request a therapist? You started taking the meds for anxiety and depression, right? Did these meds help with the anxiety and depression? If, all of a sudden, it appears that you're anxiety and depression have lifted it MEANS that the meds are working. If you are interested in trying to wean off any medication it must be through your physician.  I'm so sorry that you learned this lesson the hard way. You are in my thoughts and my prayers. Hugs.

Dropping a med cold turkey can have numerous side effects.  There are side effects with most medicines anyhow, but dropping cold turkey brings on a whole new side effect.... and that's probably more than likely what you are going through now.  Just stopping your med almost completely explains what you are going through right now.

I'd also suggest seeing a doctor/mental health expert on "why" you are taking the medicine to begin with.  Medicine alone is like a band aid, and you have to get at what is bothering you....

Depression and anxiety are a nightmare.  I suffered most of my life with both of them and still treat them both today.  Things can get better and you can live a normal life, but it is hard and it takes constant work.

Please see your doctor again and reformulate a plan that you can and will stick too.  Pretend your normal life depends on it.  (It kind of does.)  Not treating this is a disaster waiting to happen.

You've done the right thing by reaching out, now continue doing the right thing and seek some more professional help.

NEVER stop taking this med (or any) abruptly. Your symptoms are from not taking the meds.  Do whatever you have to do to remember to take it...set an alarm on your cell phone, put a post-it note up somewhere you will see it..something.  You can't be "willy nilly" when it comes to taking these meds.  Take it EVERY day, at the same time every day (or as close to that time as you can), or you will run into these kinds of issues.  This is why people are slowly and deliberately tapered off these kinds of meds.

You will feel better once your start getting back on track again with your medication.

I feel extremely agressive, my fiance had to keep me from punching a hole in the wall. I just had the urge to punch something and thats no where what i am normally like and havent had that since i started the meds. A fews minutes later i just broke down and started crying. Is it possible to have side effects from stopping the meds without asking my doctor 1st or is it something else that is wrong?

Hi!
There are always side effects when taking meds like this. And there are always chances youll pick up on a few I.e; Changes in appetite, constipation, dizziness, drowsiness, weight loss or gain, dry mouth. Those are some of the side effects, and are side effects of a lot of meds like that. And what your describing sounds a little like your getting agressive, which is one of the more rare side effects of some of these meds, and a doc should be consulted! Does it feel like your feeling aggressive?
Can you name any other side effects you may be having?
