Cant think, speak, concentrate

I recently started having a problem recalling words. This progressed into being unable to control my speaking and awareness of what I had said and to whom. Then it worsened. I now cannot concentrate on reading or learning. I also feel very bad about myself because of this and have developed a senseless fear when about to walk out the front door of my house. I talked to my doctor, and she said to go talk to a psychiatrist, which I forgot to do, and when I found the number to the person she told me to go see,  i forgot why i had it. Now I have lost it. I feel like I am going crazy. I also have hypothyroid disease. My doctor did not even check the panels before she sent me to the psychiatrist (whom i have not seen). I don't know what to do, or how to proceed. Please help. I am tired of not being able to concentrate or function like I did a few months ago!

Hi Blacky,
Can you call your dr. back and ask to do your blood work for your thyroid?  Did you have a full discussion about this with your dr.?  Any other test's to rule out anything else?  If yes to the second 2, then all else has been ruled out. Right?    Then you should go, make the appt. ASAP. It will probably make you feel a lot better.

I didn't get the panel, but i did make a appointment to see a psychiatrist. I feel really bad and need to get better. I am tired of not being able to think. I was really doing well, now I am not. I don't know what is happening to my brain. I think i might be getting Alzheimer's a little bit sometimes.

How old are you? You should do lab tests and also see a neurologist along with psychiatrist.
