That's wonderful that you are pursuing counseling.  And it's so good that you hope for something to help you and that you want help.  That is so constructive on your part.

I can identify with you wanting to commit suicide.  I was bargaining constantly with myself about giving it so much time, or just trying something else before I would commit suicide.  Just a way to know that there could be light at the end of the tunnel.  But it kept me from suicide long enough before I found first the MAO Inhibitor which put me into great spirits.

That was 35 years ago before any of the newer antidepressants were available.  Having bad side effects from that medication eventually, I then found the light treatment, which after about 5 years stopped working.  By then the newer antidepressants were available and I have been completely treated with Effexor.  But that's not to say that that's the antidepressant that you should be helped with.  Just giving you examples.

You hang in there.  There is help for you.  Wanting to commit suicide is to be expected when the pain is so terrible.  My depression pain was worse than my most severe migraine sending me to the ER following a major stroke and worse than my trigeminal neuralgia which is a 10 out of 10 pain level which feels like electric shocks going through my teeth.  Now both are mostly treated, but I still get terrible migraines.

If you feel the pain is too much and that you must commit suicide, call 911 or get yourself to a hospital.  This feelling is only momentary.  And you can have a great life ahead for yourself.  My psychiatrist at the time gave me Xanax which would put me to sleep when I got to the point at night when I didn't think that I could stand the depression pain.  Maybe that's an aid for you if you feel that desperate at times.

Again, know that there is help for you.  You take care.

It sounds like you really need counseling.  So I would look for that.  You can probably find some more cheaply with a sliding scale if money is a problem.

Also you should keep trying more antidepressants.  Have you tried an MAO Inhibitor?  That's an antidepressant that is used as a last resort due to the dietary restrictions.

Also have you tried light therapy?  I was depressed all year long, but it worked wonders for me.

There is a lot out there for you to try, but you really need counseling as well.  Please let me know whether you have tried any of my suggestions.  Wish you the best.

Hi casie27 my name is Ana and I'm new to the medhelp and also to forums (I don't know if I will post this comment correctly :)) .
I am here because I got off my meds over 3 weeks ago, and I really need to talk to someone. I don't think you can't be helped because you are here, doing the same as I am, as we are trying to get over it and fight it and just trying different ways.. And seems to me we still didn't find OUR way, so keep looking, everyone deserves a chance...
Kind regards from Alberta, Canada
