Tiny problem

Back in 1993, I was diagnosed with Post Partum Depression. I was on Wellbutrin and did very well. Off meds in late 1994.
Then...2005 hit. My son went into the military and was facing his first deployment to Iraq. I went to see my doc who diagnosed me with depression and anxiety. I began taking Wellbutrin and Ativan.
Forward to August 2005....my second child passed away. Doc doubled/tripled my Ativan.
Another forward to July 2006...I moved out of state. Began taking my Ativan only when I needed it, then stopped taking it altogether by September. I was still on the Welbutrin until my script ran out in December.
I realize some of my depression is stemming from life experiences, but, hey, who doesn't have life experiences?? I can recognize the signs by now and having 'tried' a few other meds (ok, barely tried, but tried)-Paxil, Prozac-I KNOW what works for me...Wellbutrin.
So now that I have moved....I have suffered some setbacks. I was in a car accident in May 2007 (moderate whiplash injury that lost me my job) and a more serious accident in September that same year. That accident left me with a Grade 3 concussion, orbial floor fracture and a complex zygomatic arch fracture. I have been evaluated for Traumatic Brian Injury, but the 'test' came back  "normal". I KNOW I am suffering again with depression and do not know where to turn. I am not up for the trial and error on meds when I know what works. So how do I go to a doctor I have never seen before and tell him I want a script for Wellbutrin??

Tell the psychiatrist that the Wellbutrin is the medication that worked before and if neccessary you will sign HYPAA release forms to have your previous records released so they can see that. Chances are they will either accept you as that is a perfectly reasonable choice of medication or they will look through the records and see for themselves. Either way if it worked before, within their knowledge unless they have express concerns there's no reason they wouldn't start you on it again. Just explain factually as I said. They will understand.
