Erythroplasia of Queyrat??

I'm a 24yr old male. I have a reddish oval shaped lump on the right border of my external urethral meatus. the lump is quite flat (doesn't stick out) and is smooth. I've had it for as long as i can remember. I do not clean under the foreskin frequently (although now i do it everyday). The lump is sensitive but not outright painful to touch and no spontaneous pain or itch. I'd had problems retracting my foreskin when i was younger so i could not wash it properly. The lump has been the same size for as long as i can remember. When i saw a GP in 2001, he gave me some cream to apply saying that it was probably due to inflammation due to irritation by urine. I can't remember the cream he gave me but i assume it to be some topical anti inflammatory. Anyway, it didn't work and i didn't see him cuz it didn't bother me. recently, a small ulcer has developed on the lump. I don't know if it is due to trauma and the ulcer is not healing. It is not painful either. I don't recall any traumatic event to the region. I've had no sexual contact of any kind with anyone before. No pain on urination or ejaculation.

I recently saw the same GP (2009) again. He checked my prostate and said it was very good as the central groove could be felt. He doesn't think it is cancer as it is not growing. However he has referred me to a dermatologist for a biopsy. He postulates it to be an inflammation of some mucus secreting duct. When i asked if it was erythroplasia of queyrat, he wasn't sure. He didn't check my inguinal lymph nodes but from my own check, i don't feel any evidence of lymphadenopathy.

I have a few questions:

1. Given the history and examination, what are the differential diagnosis for my case?
2. How will the skin biopsy be done?

You can speak to me in medspeak, i'm undergoing medical training, i can understand. I know the histology will be a definite answer but i'll have to wait about 3 weeks and i just want some opinions.

Thank you for your time and understanding.

Rgds
