Hello,
A swollen lymph node is felt as a deep swelling or bump. Inguinal lymph nodes are superficial and deep. You should apply warm compresses and even if it is a swollen lymph node it should respond to the warm compresses and topical antibiotics.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
PS: Another clue in my case is that the lump seem to be fixed to the skin (but not to any other deeper planes). This mean, when I move the skin, the lump moves with it, and I can move it a lot.
Thank you so much for your answer! I have been touching it a lot...so I guess that doesn't help.
I have just one more question if you don`t mind. It is true that this lump feel near the skin (like 2-3mm below). My dermatologist says that if it was a swollen lymph node it would be deeper, even the superficial ones. Is this correct? What is common depth of the inguinal lymph nodes?
Thank you very much
Hello,
One possibility for your symptoms is of a boil. It is less likely to be due to hidradenitis. Treatment includes antibiotics and do not touch or pick them up. You can however apply topical antibiotic creams like Neosporin or Bactroban. If the symptoms persist then you should get oral antibiotics prescribed from a doctor.
