Doctor removed string/thread from inside my arm! What could it be?

Today during an Implanon removal from my upper arm whilst my doctor was searching for my implant she came across a piece of what looked like red thread/string embedded in my arm. She pulled at it and asked me had I ever had stitches as it looked like suture thread.
I have never had stitches so was quite confused, she tried to pull it out but it would not come out far without it feeling like she was pulling my soul out through my arm so she cut a sample off to be sent off to the lab for testing as she was as mystified as me.
Has anyone ever had experience with this?
Pretty freaked out by the whole experience.
Thanx Luna.

I can understand why this would make you nervous!  It's a good thing that they are sending it out for testing- just as a precaution.  There are all kinds of things that seem really weird that end up being nothing.  I am not sure what it might be, but am familiar with things being tested that are found in the body- it can be really nerve wracking!
Let us know how the test ends up!

It was a very strange experience. I am sure it is nothing, just curious as to what it could have been. First time I've ever seen my doctor look confused!!! Worried me a bit. I will let you know what the tests results say when they come back :)
I can only imagine how nervous that would make me too!

I have done some research on morgellons, never had any of the symptoms people say they have. If it wasn't for the doctor pulling it out I would never have known it was there. :)
