what causes a bad break out in same area for MONTHS?

I've been breaking out on my chin area for almost 6 months. I've never really have problems with acne as a teen but as I get older it seems to be getting worse. I'm currently 30 and female and I hear it's far more common but this isn't a normal outbreak for me. I occasionally get a single pimple on my hairline and goes away fairly quickly but this is more like 2 to 4 at a time, and when one is close to healing up another one will be right behind it. It's been like this non stop. There's no burning or rash. I've been trying to let it fully come to a head but it never happens and they get pretty big. While I'm trying not to pick at them but I find myself doing it while I'm asleep. When I try to let them be they have gotten to be larger than a dime but it feels really deep. I haven't been to a doctor, i just can't afford it. I wash my face daily, I've tried otc creams but it see to be drying out and irritating everything but that area which is larger than a golf ball around my chin. They heal and just won't go away. HELP!
