white spot on tongue

My baby was born with two white spots about the tip  of her tongue. They kept her in the hospital , in the NICU , for a week. The Dr.'s ran bacterial and viral tests on her. They came up with nothing. She is now 17 months old and still has the same two white ,enlarged  "taste buds". Have you ever heard of such a thing?
