Actually, no, diabetes can be a very slow onset - or it can be very fast, there's no hard and fast rules with it. For example, my onset occurred very gradually over the course of a year. The insulin producing cells in the pancreas gave up producing insulin slowly, until eventually none were producing any insulin at all. In some people, the production of insulin can stop much faster. More often, the slow onset may only become really apparent towards the end, when more severe symptoms occur.
If it was diabetes surely after a month you would be dead. I was diagnosed after 2 weeks of being REALLY unwell then I was in ICU.
Thank you so much. Im begining to think its not diabetes and im just overreacting.. I do feel thirsty but not like you described and I counted the amount of times a day I pee and the adverage is 20...So im thinking of taking another pregnancy test in a few days if the blood works comes back and everything is nomal.
The blood work results will confirm whether you have or have not got diabetes, but personally it doesn't sound like it to me. The onset of diabetes usually involves massive weight loss (because your body is effectively eating itself away) and the thirst experienced is unquenchable to the point of extreme drinking. Quite literally, you would be stood at the water tap filling a glass and drinking it over and over and over again. Type 2 sometimes has a slower onset of symptoms and is often associated with people much older than yourself - and with those that are substantially overweight.
I wouldn't worry too much at this stage and just wait for the blood results.
They just tested for a UTI and pregnancy with the urine strips and they were negative. They did not send the urine to a lab. I do not have an infection as the urine strips test for leukocytes (which are fighting infection cells).. Now im just waiting for blood work results
As a Type 1 diabetic for many years, I would say your symptoms do not sound like diabetes. If your doctor tested your urine for other things, did they check it for glucose levels (I would assume they did and found no abnormal reading). It sounds more like an overactive bladder problem, possibly due to an infection, but you should talk to your doctor about it to acquire a diagnosis and treatment - and particularly if the symptoms persist.
