Thanks for using the forum.
Your obviously know that a blood glucose of 228 30 minutes after eating is too high. If your sugar is spiking up that high you are running the risk of complications from your diabetes. Has anyone helped you to plan your diet to manage your diabetes. A dietician could help you to set up a meal plan, and to make dietary choices that will prevent your blood sugar form swinging between high and low.
I hope this helps. Good luck.

Thanks ,,yes i do need to be smarter about this,,I watched my mother and i don't want to go threw what she did!! Thanks!!
There is no "best time" depends what you want to know.
If you test before and 1 hour after you eat you will find out how that meal effected your BG. Test very first thing in AM and that is your fasting. 1 hour after getting up that is usually your liver dump (dawn phenomenon).
228 is too high, you are doing damage to your eyes and nerves that will someday catch up with you. if your going to 228 after eating you must also be going fairly low to average out to an A1c of 6.4.

Thanks, for your reply! My BG is usually pretty good. After i posted my question i checked my sugar and it was 228.That was about 30minutes after i ate.I could eat better,,,but lately it just seems food is bothering more than before. I check it after i eat but my dr said my aic is always good i could do before,I still don't know when the best time is. Thanks
Ok Whats your BG after you eat? Before you eat? how many carbs do you eat?
A sandwich aint so simple if it made with bread, bread is carbs... carbs raise BG... high BG is not good.
your A1c is 6.4 that is an average BG of 136 so you could be going as high as 200 and as low as, well, low, its an average.
