Hey everyone! Well, I took him in. He spent 2 days at the vets' He was obviously sick, but thankfully it wasn't the parvo listed above.
He was just very malnutritioned and needed some tlc from the vets. He was given a IV for dehydration, some new gast. food, a few oral medications, and some vitamin's. He sure was way more happy and playful when we came back for him.
I'm so glad he was okay. He sure was sick.
Thank you all for your imput and advice. You all saved him.
Hope it all turns out well. Don't forget to let us know how things go when you get a chance.
Thank you so much, I will take him in immediately
You said last Saturday... do you mean 2 days ago or a week ago this past Saturday?
I know when you change a pup's (or adult for that matter) food you have to do it VERY gradually and in slow amounts like 1/4 new food + 3/4 old food, then if no diarrhea or tummy upset occurs after a couple days, increase to half & half, then again if no upset increase to 3/4 new food + 1/4 old food, until finally you are only feeding the new food.
I have no idea either why they would feed an adult dog food to a pup that age. That to me is a red flag that they were not taking good care of these pups and maybe any of their dogs.
I agree this pup needs to see a Vet, TODAY if possible. It could just be the many different types of food you've given him in such a short amount of time, that would be enough to upset any pup's tummy, but just to be on the safe side as the others have said you have to rule out disease & parasites.
I think your puppy could be very sick, possibly with parvo, which is fatal if untreated. I suggest you get him to your vet asap. Even if you have to go on an emergency basis, please go today. - Blu
