Bugs on Dog

my puppy is 3mths old he had little black dots by his genitals he also had these little bugs with brown shells i think they are fleas. I know what deer ticks look like and its not a tick, i gave him a tick & flea bath, and i bought him a flea and tick collar THEY ARE STILL THERE!! HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP

The little dots are flea poop. They look like pepper..The bugs must be fleas. The shampoo will only get rid of the fleas on him. He therefore is reinfesting himself going outside and such. Very possible that the fleas are in your house. You need to get a topical flea product or spray from your vet. Some of the over-the-counter flea products are either dangerous or ineffective. Axe the flea collar.......It could make him sick and I've never seen them work except maybe around the neck. Be careful with all these toxins on such a young puppy....Your best bet in to ask your Vet what product he/she recommends. This will be safer and more effective for you and your puppy in the long-run. Good luck.....Fleas have been tough this year!!!!!!!!!!!      Karla
