Pink eye

I think my pug has pink eye.  Can visine be used on a dog or should I take him to the vet for treatment?

My dog just had a case of "pink eye". They told me it's not the same strain as humans get. We had to get a prescription antibiotic ointment. I personally wouldn't put visine in his eyes. The only thing I would suggest before you get to the vet is a rinse with sterile saline solution. Luckilly I wear contacts and had it on hand. But you will never get rid of the infection without the antibiotics. Good Luck.
