Please help , What killed my doggie?
My Chihuahua was around 7. I have had her for 5 yrs. Rescued her from a neglectful home. It started on a friday she first started shiving and quiving more than mormal. She had an unsteady gate on where she would tilt to left side. Seemed as if she was drunk. I took her to Vet and she had a 105.2 fever.They gave her antibotics .Doc checked her every where to see if she showed any pain and none. So she got worse two days later. Took her to emergency vet they did blood work.annd xrays .They said virus but couldnt pin point it.they gave anti-inflam.and pain meds.so after 24hrs of inflammatory she seemed to be feeling better. FOR 1 DAY. And then the bad Bad started.She stared loosing control of her limbs as if they were rubber when she would try to stand and her eyes started going side to side and it was if she was stroking out.took her back to vet. By this time she is lifeess. I was beside mmyself.my vet gave her a shot of the stuff to stop seizures and then she died. Please ! What happened to my baby girl Macie?
My heart breaks for you but sadly sometimes these things happen no matter what we do. Small silver lining the loss of my JD brought these two beautiful dogs in to my life. It will get better.
Thank you so much for responding. I have been beside myself trying to find some kind of closure.By what u said that happened to ur doggie the symptons sounds the same. I work in the medical field and the 1st thing that popped in my head when my MACIE got sick,by signs was that what ever it was was effecting her brain. OH girl it killed me to watch what was happening fast!! Im also sorry for ur loss and Again,Thank u soo much 4 sharing.
That sounds exactly like what happened to my German Pointer 8 years ago. At first I thought it was a flu he was sick couldn't hold down food, then he started shivering and wobbling like he was drunk. Then the seizures started he couldn't stand up it was like bambie on ice. He would try but it was like he didn't have control of his limbs. After all that he started looking at me like he didn't know who I was his eyes were all glassy. I had a Necropsy done it turns out he has a extremely fast growing brain tumor. He was perfectly healthy one day then 16 days later he died of N stage brain cancer. The vet told me even if they caught it sooner and he got treatment he would have only had a 15% chance of surviving. So sorry for the loss of your beloved Chihuahua.

Oh, I am so sorry to read this and sorry you list your little dog.
If nothing showed up on tests, like blood work, the cause may not be determined unless a necropsy was done and, even then, you may not know for sure.
This sounds like it could be some type of poisoning or neurological issues to me.
