I have a 3 yr old lab who loves to be with me where ever I go and wants to go anywhere all the time. Today, June 2, 2014 she has had 3 fairly hard yellow stools and been laying around a lot more than usual, not really anxious to eat but does anyway. We feed her Blue Buffalo, 1 cup 3 times a day. She is the English version of chocolate lab, shorter legs than the American hunting breed, and weighs 90 lbs. The stools do squish (in a bag) with a little pressure, not slimy. I am trying to figure out what is going on. Any help is much appreciated. Here is some recent background. Its only been 24 hours so far.
I restarted my walking regimen with my lab. Afterward, I drink 2 scoops of Chocolate Whey protein powder mixed with 2 tsp cocoa, 1 cup almond milk, and 1 Tbsp Flaxseed and put in a blender to mix. Yesterday I did not put it together right and was called away to see some breaking news. When I returned, half of it leaked out the bottom and my dog lapped it up off the floor. We also have been letting her swim, fetching sticks, in the nearby lake that has fountains in it and pumps to circulate it. The lake did just "turn over". She drinks plenty of water and stays in a/c most of the time. I looked up information about chocolate toxicity, drinking milk or lactase intolerant and ruled out both of these. I just dont know about whey. I know flaxseed is in some dog foods ingredients and if anything would cause loose stools. I thought about a parasite but no diarrhea or fever that I know of. Thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks!
