Dog dies after having her teeth out.

My maltese Roxie died after having her teeth removed. I have tried to upload the autopsy report here for you to read, but cant paste it. Any way, it said that she died from sever pulmonary odema, and a septic condition. Although no bacterial organisums were found in soft skin and tissue sections. there is a lot more, she was 10 years old, and over weight, I am just trying to get another opinion as to why she died
many thanks
Carolyn

I know of a lady that developed heart problems from bad teeth, possibly this happened to your dog?

Hi Carolyn,
I am really sorry she died. I know how very sad it is to lose your dog. Please accept my condolences.

I am not veterinary-trained, so can't make any intelligent comment on the autopsy (necropsy) report, or any real helpful suggestions.

But all I can really say is that in older and especially unfit dogs, the risks of surgery are greater. If she was overweight, that could have had some bearing. It is also possible that the condition of her teeth and/or gum infection? -could have carried some infection into her system? I realize you said no bacterial organisms were found in soft skin & tissue sections.....but I wonder if there could have been some effect on the condition of her heart?

I am so sorry anyway.
