Orange tongue

I've had a cough and a lot of phlem for about 2 weeks.  The couging has subsided, but there's still phelm in my throat. Yesterday I noticed that my tongue was coated in an yellowy/orange color!!  I scraped it, and brushed it, but to no avail.  Is this a common ailment?  Anybody???  Thanks.

Hi all,

I have similar symptoms to Crip1974.  My constipation issues began in January, along with a lot of tightness in my lower back, and they both persist today.  I have been taking over-the-counter stool softeners off and on since then, and have been thinking that the tightness of my muscles was constricting bowel movement.  Then a few days ago my tongue became orange, and there is whiteness in the back of my tongue.  It looks like an infection, but I wonder if everything is related.

Just to note, I started gargling half and half with water and 3% peroxide in early January.  I wonder if there is any correlation.

Crip1974, are you still having the same symptoms?

Thanks,

Joel

Not sure my problem was the same thing as reported here,  For weeks I noticed that first thing in the morning, the left side of my tongue had a more-or-less oval iridescent orange coating (or slick), about the size of two nickels overlapping. It was easy to scrape or brush off, but it drove me nuts because I had no idea what it was (fungus? bacteria?).  It never reappeared during the day.
I finally figured out that it was dye from the Advil I often take in the middle of the night.  Unbelievable.

What was it your doctor said you had? My doc won't prescribe 500 mg of Penecillin 4 times a day for 10 days for this without knowing what it is.

I have the same problem. It started with bowel troubles, constipation then diarrhea. I am still having issues there and my tongue is orange too.
the Dr. thought it might be a parasite so he is doing tests on my poop.
I have an appointment friday.I will let you know.

Hello all,

I must say my orange tongue is not near as bad a it was. But I do have acid reflux and on nights that the reflux is bad the next morning my tongue is oranger than normal. I am no longer worried about it, doesn't seem to effect my day to day and it is not contagious.

Nor is it thrush or Black tongue. I am curious if penecillin is helping people resolve it, seems like many have had positive results with that.

I associate mine to either the no strep throat sore throat or the antibiotics reseting my good bacteria in my mouth.

I do love how we are all walking medical mysteries and doctors have no idea what it is from.
