Pain control

Just recently diagnosed and still waiting to get in to see the rheumatologist. It's going to be a few weeks. In the meantime, I am going to see my PCP tomorrow. What can I do about pain control? The pain in my hips is the worst and makes it very difficult to walk. Once I do get out and walk even a little bit, the pain is so excruciating that it takes me out for the rest of the day.

I also have problems with tissue tearing internally. When I had my hysterectomy performed, my OBGYN said that he had never seen such "poor quality" of tissue. He said whenever he tried to clamp it or move it, it disintegrated and tore in his hands. He thought we might be vegetarians. (We're not and all my vitamin levels are good.) My insides constantly feel like they are on fire and coupled with the joint pain I feel like I'm in misery.

I can't take anymore Naproxen based products because I have bleeding stomach ulcers. I don't have a bathtub so that's out and the heating pad/cold packs don't help. Is there anything else I might be able to try or that I could talk to my doc about? I am currently on Gabapentin for Chiari related nerve pain but it doesn't help the joint pain.

There are 10 different types of eds, one is the vascular type and can cause uterine fagility and tears.  I don't know  yet it if causes pain like the hypermobile type, that is something I am trying to find an answer to but am having trouble finding.  I am concerned that I have the vascular type which is the most dangerous type, but I have severe pain as well and am wondering if this is a good sign that it may just be the hypermobile type.. let me know if anyone has any input on this

Hi and welcome to the EDS group.

I was on Naproxen and it only affected my IBS and did nothing for ne of my pain, but we r all different.....

Get a microwave heat pack to wrap on ur affected areas...this may help get heat to that  source of pain.

I also wonder if ur hip is not in the socket and y it is causing u pain....when I lay on my side I hear my should and feel it pop out and then back in joint...last night tho I was on my right and my shoulder hurt so I rolled onto my left and I could not find a comfortable place for my right arm after a while of having it placed across my chest I heard a pop and saw my arm move with the sound....I never saw it move on it's own like that, but it felt mush better once it was back in place.....

I also had a finger go out a while back it felt swollen and like I could not bend it, all from pulling up my jeans....well I could not take the pain so I puled on the finger and it popped back into place...and felt better even tho it was sore a few days later....

Our joints can pop back into place, but sometimes need help...ask ur PCP to check to see if it could be y u r in pain.
