Successful surgery

I had my surgery early yesterday morning. My appendix was covered in adhesions and I had a small spot of endo right behind my vagina. She cleaned off my appendix and the endo. I have to see her again in a year to make sure I don't grow any more cysts and that the adhesions/endo are under control.

There was one particular nurse who really wanted me to leave faster than I was comfortable doing. She knocked out my IV and got the saline solution everywhere, on herself and the floor. She just took it completely out after that. Apparently she wasn't supposed to do that until I was ready to go, unless she had permission from my doctor. I was also freezing when I woke up. Has anyone else experienced this? They just kept throwing warm blankets on me because I couldn't stop shivering.

I also have a slight reaction to Latex and everyone was freaking out over it. On the other hand my allergy to Purell is much worse than my reaction to Latex. No one seemed to care about this though. They kept using it and trying to touch me. I had to constantly remind them they couldn't do this. They even put me in a Latex free OR, I would much rather have had a Purell free OR and just dealt with the Latex. It seemed silly to me. At least my doc did a good job and I'm thankful I was able to see her.

I am Rachel's sister and yes, my surgery was about that long.  I on the other hand, was overheated when I woke up.  They kept giving me blankets and I would kick them off.  Oh and yes Diva2317 did see a really good doctor because the same person did my surgery as well.

My sister's surgery was that long so I was mentally prepared for that if it happened. I don't really like to compare my case to any one else's. My symptoms still suck and it's still hard. Surgery is still scary no matter what it's for.

I am sorry that you had such unpleasent experience, but I am happy that the surgery went well and I wish you quick and painless recovery!
I know how it feels to be freezing, becuase I experienced that after my lap. But, in my case, the surgery should have been 45 minutes to one and a half hour in the worst case, but it lasted 5 hours!!! So, in the operating room is very, very cold, and after that I was "freezing to death"!!! They kept me warm with blankets after that (and it was august, very hot summer)! So, I know that feeling! And I am glad that I can share it with you.
Hope you feel better soon! Take care and try to relax as much as you can!
