Four weeks ago I injured my ankle. It was very swollen and bruised in the front of the leg, just above the ankle. The swelling went down somewhat but there is a large, hard lump in the area now. It was only hurting when I touched it, but now although it doesn't hurt when I'm walking around during the day, at night the entire ankle has been painful, whether I'm sitting or walking. Three years ago I broke that ankle in three places including the lower portion of my tibia and fibula. I have two metal plates and a large screw in that ankle. Should I be concerned, or will it eventually go away on its own?
