Hi everyone,

I am new to this section of the forums. I have some quesions about lifting weights. I am 24 years old and I never lifted weights until now. 1. Is it safe to lift free weights?
                           2. Shoud I lift everday or have some rest time?
                           3. What are some serious injuries that occur?
                           4. Can you become paralyzed from lifting weights(I heard that from a friend)?
                           5. How much should I lift overall?
                           6. I am trying to gain muscle, so is it good to weight lift?

Sorry I know that there are a lot of questions but I would like to know what I getting myself into, so please can someone answer my questions as best as possible. I would greatly apprieciate it. Thank You and I wish everyone nothing but the best.

1) It is safe to lift weights but always under a trainer initially, It is safe to lift free wieights after you learn the right procedure.
2) Giving rest to any muscle after  severe stress for 48hrs is good. Alternative days would be fine.
3) As i already told you, you will have no spine problems or muscle, ligament tears or sprains if you follow proper procedures.
4) No, you cannot get paralyzed, as you can see there is an olympic event also called weight lifting and the people are quite healthy.
5) You can even lift double your weight or more, but that is with practice and working under proper coaches and hard workouts.
6) There are many other ways to increase muscles and this is not the only method, you can alternatively follow any good method.

Everything starts with proper balanced diet and then coming to cardio, weights etc. Take care!
