left lower quadrant abdominal pain

I am a 27-year-old guy. I am having left lower quadrant abdominal pain. I started exercising for almost a month now and about 1 week ago i had severe pain. I had a left hernia repair via laparoscopy 3 years ago and my question is if this pain is related to the hernia repair. Around  6 months ago, i had similar event and i consulted a doctor, who said it is nothing related to that, but I am again having it now.

Hi there!

A hernia ‘repair’ is unlikely to be the problem unless there has been a re-herniation with strangulation. Other few possible causes are GI spasms, infections or inflammations like colitis, peritonitis, diverticulitius, uretric colic etc. It would be best to get this evaluated by a primary care physician/ internist initially. Later on depending on the cause diagnosed, specialist management may be sought, if required.
Hope this helps.

Take care!

I would think a Gastroenterologist could tell you best if it is related to your hernia or if it is possibly IBS or another gastro irritation.
When I had pain exactly there, it was an infected pocket in my intestines called diverticulitis. Simple antibiotics clear it up along with watching what flares it up like certain foods (seeds, nuts, ) as in tomatoes, bananas.  It can be stagnant and flare up if we eat an abundant of nuts etc.
Good luck
