High Myopia with -13

High Myopia with -13

My son is 5 month old and is a -13 in both eyes. We noticed a problem about 2 weeks ago.  There seems to be nothing else wrong with my son except severe myopia - Nearsighted. I am very worried about what the future will hold. How common is this? Isn't there any surgeries to correct this for children? Who are the top doctors in the U.S. who deal with this? Please help!

not very common.  no, no surgery to correct myopia at age 5 months.  you dont need a 'top doctor' to manage this.  your 5 month old will need glasses, possibly contact lenses, and regular visits to a pediatric ophthalmologist.
