My five month old will be tested in June for an eye disease called Lebers Congenital Amourosis. He was refered to an optomologist by his pediatrician because of nystagmus. When the optomologist
dilatedDilated cardiomyopathy his eyes he said that he saw scarring on both his macular and his retina, and that his pupils were sluggish.
I have researched some on the possible treatments for LCA if he is diagnosed, but I cannot find any information on the scars inside his eye, what were they caused by, is there anyway to fix them, do we remove the scars, or leave them alone would scars like this affect vison in a
normalNormal saline flush eye.
Aside from the nystagmus, sluggish pupils, and very low vison (we believe that he does have light perception) he seems to be right on track as far a physical growth and achievements, he also smiles as any other baby would so we don't have any
fearFears and phobias of neurological problems.
Also I know that LCA affects the cones and rods in the eye but I do not know if the disease damages them, or if they are missing all together. And is anyone out there replacing cones and rods in the eye. Any information that you can give me would be greatly appreciated.
