Astigmatism in children

by eileen1977, Apr 28, 2009 04:09AM
My son is now 6 year in age, but he had diagnosed to have Astigmatism of average 400 degree on both of HIS eyes.
His optometrist told me he is almost half blind which make me very worry about his condition.

Within just 3 months his degree went up from 350 to 420. I hear that wearing a transition lens glasses will actually relax his eye muscle and prevent the condition to be worsen. It could not be prevent but at least help in some whre.

Is the statements of wearing transition lens to worsen the astigmatism condition ?

best Regards,
Eileen

Take your son to a pediatric ophthalmologist. Find one near you at www.aao.org or ask your pediatrician to refer you.

Transition lens will have no effect on astigmatism.
