Dry eyes after retina detachment?

Dry eyes after retina detachment?

Hello. I had retinal detachment surgery in my left eye and a freeze laser in my right eye to take care of some tears and to prevent a detachment in that eye, in June 2009. Over the past few weeks my eyes have become very light sensitive and feel dry all the time. I have always been light sensitive to a point because my eyes are very blue, but sunglasses would always help this. Now it is so bad I can't drive during the day because of the sun and and at night because of headlights. I had to turn the brightness down on my computer screen and my tv. I am assuming it is being caused by dry eye, but I have never had dry eyes before. I went to my regular eye doctor and he told me it probably has to do with my surgeries, but why would it take almost a year to start?

If anyone has experienced this please comment. I have been really frustrated with my eyes lately. Thanks!

IF your symptoms are in both eyes and started a year after surgery its NOT the surgery. Use the search feature and archives to read a bout dry eyes and ask your eye MD about restasis.
