Floaters and vitreous detachment

Dear all opthalmalogists,

I encourage you to please read my statement regarding the floaters in the eyes in many patients. I recently had an eye strain 6 months ago and am still experiencing floaters and flashes of lights. I am very aware that floaters are permanent once they're formed. My vision is good, but my visual field is not good. We all have been told the same thing over again "Live with it, brain will get used to it." I am getting sick and tired of people telling other people the same thing over again and it's like it's all in our minds. Well, you know what? There's a difference between reality and imagination. Most eye docs diagnose these patients with a posterior vitreous detachment. We would like to say that we are trying very hard to raise awareness to the public so research and non-invasive therapy besides vitrectomy and yag laser can be established. Floaters are not only a nuisance, but bothersome and DEBILITATING to the quality of life. If the vitreous is removed to eliminate floaters (which I will never go in that route), cataracts will be formed later, and it's a crazy progression. Yet, vitreous floaters can also distract people from reading or driving, the symptom progressively gets worst. If you guys can kindly understand my concern, please start discussing about vitreous floaters when you have meetings.
