Need big help on a scotoma question.

Hi everyone. I have myopia (-8 in both eyes) which has been very stable for about 10 years. I always had a flash in my left eye for the last three years that is a little lateral of midline, I think right around where the optic nerve comes in. My friend who is an ophtho said that probably the vitreous pulling on the retina every time I blinked, which is when I saw the flash. A week ago, the flash mysteriously went away for a few days. Then all of a sudden I started getting a flickering scotoma in the same spot. The blind spot is about the size of my fist if I stick it out as far in front of me as I can. The appearance with the flicker, the jagged edges, looks just like a scintillating scotoma. But I don't have a headache and it is persistent for the last 5 days.

I saw a retina specialist. He saw the same things the previous retina guys saw, no tears, just some holes.  I asked him what could be causing the scotoma, he did not know.

Can I have a scintillating scotoma without any signifcant other symptoms for the last 6 days?

No its not "just one of those things" since you've seen a retina MD without results my strong recommendation would be to see a neuroophthalmologist in the very near future. Ask your Retina MD to set it up.
