Strabismus surgery

by Jeenx, Jul 25, 2008 10:44PM
Hi, my 3 year old son underwent strabismus surgery for an intermittent Right sided exotropia. The opthalmologist intentionally overcorrected the right eye so that he now has a right eye that is turned inwards (constantly).
1.How long will it take before his eyes realign again?
2.Is it common to overcorrect in surgeries like these?
3.Will the inturned eye stay the way it is (turned in) for good?

My wife and I are now feeling anxious(and guilty too) because we have put him through surgery for an intermittent problem and he now has a permanent inturned right eye.
I'd appreciate any explanation or reassurance. Thanks
