Would an update higher eyeglasses prescription make your eyes worse?

by ling1248, Jul 21, 2009 01:23PM
I am 16 and I am near sighted and have been wearing glasses for 3 years. I went for my annual checkup yesterday and I got a slightly higher prescription. I have no problem seeing right now with my current glasses, it's just the really small stuff that I have problem reading.
I heard rumors about my eyesight getting worse if I wear the higher prescription eyeglasses, is it true? Should I get the higher prescribed eyeglasses or should I keep wearing the ones that I have right now?.

No the glasses do not make your eye more nearsighted, any more than wearing clothes make you fat or wearing shoes make your feet bigger.  Get the best possible glasses RX. The eye is changing on its own (like your height) and the glasses have nothing to do with it.
