fuch's endothelial dystrophy

fuch's endothelial dystrophy

hi,  I went to my eye center for glasses , because I wasn't seeing very well and my eye balls were hurting.
I'm 53 years old,  well I failed my exam and so my doctor sent me home with some eye drops. and made
another appointment for the following week with a specialist ,That is when I was told I had fuch's .He told
me I have very very old eyes and that someday I will need a transplant( also I have cataracts) maybe in
the next five years.  Three months later I went for more test ,It was hard to get infor of my test from him .
He told me I have maybe two years to decide about transplant or I will go blind.  I have had cell density
test  left eye: 679,  right eye:753,  now that I think about my past  I have had glare problems for most
of my life and couldn't focus in moring for years  all the research that I have read says you have systems
in your later years, also I have what I call light shows in my sleep that will wake me and then usually I have
eye aches. My question is maybe I don't have fuch and will I go blind If I don't do the transplant.

Most likely you do not need a corneal transplant.  There are newer procdures such as DESK with transplant only the diseased area of the cornea and not all the layers of the cornea and improvement is very rapid compared to a corneal transplant.

You should get the cataract removed first before the the DSEK.
