I took my daughter to the eye doctor for a normal eye exam on 10-06-09 it was her first time when the doctor put the dilating drops in her eyes she passed out and her body started to shake they called 911 but she is still having pain in her eyes and the light still bothers her is this normal. the hospital says they have never heard of this where a patient passes out from getting there eyes dilated. i was on the computer looking and I found your site and a women had the same thing happen to her.was this an allergic reaction should she never get her eyes dilated agian.

Find out what drops were used, write them down and tell the next "eye doctor" that sees her. Strong drops like cyclogyl are more likely to cause that than weak drops like tropicamide or 2.5% neosynephrine.

Also some people just faint from fear, nervousness, instruments near eye etc. It happens about once every 4-6 months in our office. We call them "fainters". Usually they are healthy young men
