lazy eyelid causing migraines

lazy eyelid causing migraines

I have a lazy left eyelid muscle which i had operatation on when i was a child for my eyelid to open and look normal.  However beacuse of the op, my eyelid is shorter and does not close properly and stays open while i am sleeping.  I suffer from migraines, but the pain is at the back of my left eye and feels like the migraine is trying to push my eyeball out of my head.  I suffer these a few times per week and it really interfers with my work as I have to lye down in a dark room to try and get rid of it.  General drugs doesn't seem to help any.  On some bad migraines, my lefthand side of my body goes numb and tingly.  When i put pressure on my eye, it helps the pain.  Is the migraines due to the fact that my eye does not close while I am trying to sleep and maybe the eye is continuing trying to see and focus on things.  If so, is there a way to help my eyelid close while I sleep.

If the eye pain from dry spots on your cornea is a trigger for your migraines, treating your dry spots should help the frequency of migraines.

A bland eye ointment which you can buy over the counter is the treatment for the dry spots. Place about 2/3 inch behind the eyelid evey night before bed. It will cover over the area that gets exposed and keep it from drying out at night. You may need to do this forever and your eye may not get back to normal feeling for months.

You may also wish to be seen by an oculoplastic surgeon to see if something can be done to help your eyelid.

If you still have migraines after that, you should see a neurologist. If you live a regulated lifestyle, yoyur migraines may get better. Try looking migraines up on medhelp for more information.
