mcacular oedema

I had IOL's 2 months ago, one is fine with 20/20 vision. The other is not so straightforward. One month ago I had Macular Oedema diagnosed and am now off medication except for drops (Acular) twice a day. I had a check up last week and although the situation has improved slightly I am now told that the dark flickering curtain down the side of the eye is the Gel (aqeous humor) that is loose within the eye. What happens now? Should I be careful? How long will it take to get some semblance of normal vsion back?  At the moment it is quite milky and the flickering is really annoying.  Not quite what the glossy brochures say. I cannot believe the lack of expertise being offered at the so-called 'after care clinics', it wasn't untill I demanded a fourth (Yes, Fourth) opinion that the Macular Oedema was finally diagnosed. All very disappointing.    Any advice gratefully recieved.

Cystoid macular edema is a well known and common complications of cataract surgery. The treatment for it is steroid drops and acular or similiar eye drops. The amount of CMD is monitored with macular OCT. The drops are often used for several months after the CMD goes away to prevent reoccurence.

Sometimes the CME does not go away and then intraocular macugen is used.

The floaters are a differnt problem and they are normally not related.

CME can leave permanent damage the eye including epiretinal macular membranes with distorted vision or even macular cysts or holes.

If possible insiste on exams with OCT by a retinal eye MD.
