IUI-looking for a 2WW buddy

I had my first IUI this morning (Saturday) after getting an HCG (Pregnyl) shot on Thursday. I can not test until November 29, 2009. I am hopeful, but not sure what to expect. My husband has two varicoceles and I have PCOS. We just happened upon a viable follicle on Monday when I had my first consult with the RE. She was surprised too. My husband's sperm wash showed good motility so we shall see. So far since the shot I have had headaches and a little tired. Don't want to get fooled by the HCG symptoms as pregnancy, but I know it will be hard. I also have to take the Progesterone capsules vaginally starting Sunday night b/c my uterine lining was a little thinner than she wanted.

I had IUI Friday & Saturday. Blood test the 28th. If you want a buddy I'll be around but since I had trigger shot too I am ignoring every symptom :)

Is this your first IUI? I really don't know what to expect. I had a lot of cramping last night, but I know that's normal. We were instructed to have intercourse last night too. This will be the longest 2 weeks of my life. What do you plan to do to distract yourself? I will be working and I plan to schedule a massage next Saturday, but then I'm off two days for Thanksgiving. I think  by next weekend I will be feeling so antsy. Hubby is being very supportive and said that he's practicing staying positive for when my hormones are off the charts especially since I have the shot and the progesterone capsules. I kind of feel sorry for him. So I think we are both officially 1dpiui. I am trying to learn all the abbreviations. Very confusing.

This is like my third or fourth IUI. I have had 3 MCs. First IUI got preg. Then MC at 14 weeks. Two cycles after that got preg on my own. Then MC at 9 weeks. 3rd preg was IUI and MC at 8 weeks. This is my first IUI since May or June. Luckily work is busy so I will distract myself. The hardest part is waiting long enough for the HCG trigger to pass your system. That prevents me from even trying to test too early. You will cramp and twinge a bit from the procedure itself so be patient. Nothing will really happen until 6 - 10 days post ovulation, which is 7-11 days post IUI. So hang in there and good luck :)

I am so sorry to hear about all of the Mc's. That must have been so hard. I can't imagine. My husband and I started TTC in August 2007, but did not get good news. We found out he had 2 varicoceles and that gave us a 2% chance to conceive. At that point they still had not figured out what was wrong with me, which now that I have seen a RE I have now been diagnosed with PCOS. Well we went to adoption pretty quickly b/c we were not informed by all the options we had. It makes me sort of angry that no one said to me go see an RE. We've had two failed adoptions in a year so we decided to take a break from actively searching. During that time we started researching our options and was referred to our RE. I love her. She was so helpful in explaining everything. The first appointment showed during the ultrasound that I had a viable follicle. What are the chances? She said that some women with PCOS due occasionally ovulate. I am still in shock that this occured, but I'm going with the opportunity. Wish we had been informed of our options 2 years ago. Can't focus on that now. Looking forward and staying positive. I have had a lot of cramping and fluttering today. I feel totally bloated too! Nice. It will obviously be worth it if this takes. I have not experienced the physical loss of a baby, but with adoption I feel like I had the emotional loss of two. It was very difficult. I will be thinking about you this week. Good luck staying busy! Thanks for the information too.

Oh man a failed adoption is no fun either. Just trying to do the right thing and then no results. I am glad your RE saw a follicle the first visit. So funny mine did too and was like "why are you here? you already ovulate?". Anyway feel like **** today. Heartburn and nausea. Gotta love the trigger shots. I feel fine the day I take the shot and many days later the fun begins. Talk to you tomorrow.

I was just confirmed by the RE that I do have PCOS. She was shocked that my OB was not treating me for it. They told me that my bloodwork did not show I had it, but I had the cysts in my ovaries, the cystic acne, the weight gain, etc. So I just found out and I am so glad that I know what's going on. I felt a like I was making too big of a deal out of it by the way they were treating me. Really need to get a new OB I think. I will ask my RE about metformin.

To all: I am glad our TWW train is growing. Welcome ladies! It's nice to have others to share this with. My situation is rather different in that we just happened to find a viable follicle when I had my first consultation with the RE. She said that occasionally women with PCOS do ovulate. I pray that this is the one. We were trying to adopt for the last year and had 2 failed adoptions b/c we were not well informed by my OB of our options. My hubby has 2 varicoceles and now I wish we would have researched more. We just heard of IUI about 2 months ago by a friend who got pregnant her first time. I am absolutely exhausted on the shot and the Progesterone capsules. It feels like someone is squeezing my uterus, but I'm just hoping that the Prog capsules are building up my lining for pregnancy. Positive thoughts to all you and I do hope God hears all of our prayers! SSBD to all!

Hi LandM2009 and all of you girls,

I will join you in the 2WW, too:) I had my 4th IUI on the 17th, so I am 3dpiui now. I am on the IUI/clomid cycles..and this last cycle is the final one on clomid so as you can tell i am REALLY hoping for a BFP!  I find that I am throwing myself into work during this time to distract me as well.

I am having cramping and my lower back is hurting me so I hope that is not a bad sign...I will stay positive and I can test on the 2nd...so a few days after you!!!

Good luck and thanks for starting this thread!

The more the merrier! I have not really been able to talk to a lot of my friends about what we are doing and I'm certainly not telling my family yet. It's so nice to have the support of others who are experiencing the same thing. Take care and I have found that work has been a good distraction, but as I get closer I know I will have the urge to test! I will have to put the will power in check!

I had cramping and lower back during the past few days too so I think it's pretty common. For those of you out there who have done this a few times your feedback would be greatly appreciated. We newbies are struggling sometimes....

Good luck everyone! SSBD to all of you!!

I agree the more the merrier and it is nice to have the support of people who are going through it and won't tell you, "If you just stop trying and relax it will happen."  Ughhh.  I am having some cramping as well and I am also eating everything in site which I am sure I can thank the HSG shot for.  If this cycle does not work we are going to shots the next cycle.  It is frustrating because everything comes back normal and we got pregnant the first month we tried and then had a m/c when I was 8 wks along.  We have been trying since then and nothing!  I have went through two rounds of clomid with an ovulation trigger which turned me into my alter ego.  We then took a break from June to October.  I did femara with timed intercourse and that didn't work and now we did femara, ovidrel shot, and IUI.

Good Luck everyone...positive thoughts during this stressful time!

Well I gain like 80 extra lbs in about 6mths before they found out I had PCOS and I lost most of it before the year was out...I didnt do anything different!

I went for my BW today and found out my Dr's office will be closed the day after thanksgiving when my 2ww will be over so I have to wait till Monday!!!!! I also will have to wait for my results bc the office closes at 1 on Fridays! But as soon as I left the Dr's office I was sitting in my car and just started crying like a crazy. So who knows..I went to the $store and got like 5 test but Im not going to test till at least Thanksgiving Day!!! Good Luck to ALL!!!

That is amazing about the weight loss. I have gained weight over the last few years that I can't seem to get off even when I am diligently working out. I would love to lose weight, but obviously if we are going to get pregnant that's on hold for now. But good to know for the future.

As for you having to wait until Monday that s**cks! Sorry to hear that. Atleast you can do an HPT for yourself. I have been super busy this week with work and now the weekend is here. I just want to speed through to next weekend so I can test! The suspense is killing me!

bevfly: I sent you a friend request. You are getting closer! Very exciting! I hope you get great news!

Everyone else, it's so nice to be in this together. I have met some wonderful ladies on this website and have gained valuable information that keeps growing every day. I am new to the fertility business although should have been on this train about 2 years ago, but I digress.... I am here now and timing is everything. Everything happens when it's supposed to. I just hope our time is now!! Sending lots of SSBD to everyone!  Have a good weekend and stay busy!

Hi I found you and some fimliar faces.... wish you all the best of luck and sickey vibes!!!
I my self am 7dpiui and feeling nothing. I had my bw done yesterday and of course I'm at a 14.5 for progestrone and i should be in the 30 she said. So I'm not very hopefuly that it woked.

Little background:
Me: fine no probs.
DH: poor mopholgoy as low as 3%
stop protection after our engagment in 10/06
started to try 7/08 and medicaly in 3/09
We new something was up when i wasnt getting pg durning the first few months of our marriage, not that it was super important at that time but it was conserning us.
after a few months of testing i was refered to Dr. Miller at Edwards in Naperville,IL
8/09 first IUI (one folical and my husband sperm was at 40 mill with 94% motility)
9/09 Large cyst and it was cancled
10/09 stupied doc office is closed on the weekends and told me to call monday.. little did they know that sunday I ovulated and my cycle was cancled again!!!!
11/09 prayed and prayed everything went smoothly then IUI on the 14.. now just waiting  I see my doc on the 30th.

Choo Choo!! Can we get this train moving!! I am now 12dpiui and have to wait 4 more days before I'm suppose to test! My will power is growing thinner but dont want to waste money on PTs. I just wish the IUI worked by making you turn blue or hot pink when you become preggers so that you would just know one way or another if it worked! LOL
Overall I have been feeling quite "normal" the past couple of days. No cramping or bloating but no AF either - so I am still in the game! The first few days I was quite bloated and uncomfortable but now nothing.... not sure if this is good or bad. Trying not to read into it.

Hi ladies! Thanks for joining us!

babybarrett4: does your hubby have a varicocele? My husband has one in both testicles. We were not given the best prognosis, but here we are finally trying IUI. I have read on many different boards that many feel nothing, but others feel everything so it sounds very individual. I am 7dpiui and I still have headaches, bloating, pain in my uterus (occasionally-probably from the Progesterone capsules), occasional nausea, and still tired. I hope that this means for you that the HCG is out of your system and perhaps you will not feel bad your first trimester. Stay positive!

babydust8: thanks for the note on my page. I totally understand that want to test. I was told that for me even once the HCG is out of my system that the Progesterone suppositories will give me a false positive. Nice, huh? I heard that Dollar Tree or $tree has cheapy tests if you are concerned about spending too much money. I also heard from another TWWer that she bought 100 tests on Ebay for like $14 I think.

All: I am sending all of you lots of babydust and prayers! I hope we hear some good news in the next week! Take care.

Hi girls,

I wanted to check in and see how everyone was doing.  I am 3dpiui and the lower back pain/ache I had the last few days had subsided, thanks goodness. Other than that I feel ok...my boobs are starting to get a little sore, so I hope that is not a sign of AF.  I hope she takes a u-turn at all of our homes! :)

This is my 4th IUI and I am trying not to read into anything that I am feeling..but it's hard not too.  I am kind of glad to be done with clomid this cycle...it really started to not agree with me.  I am on DHEA as well. The doc put me on that a few weeks ago as he thinks I may have some signs of poor ovarian reserve, but my numbers are not too bad they say. I think he is being precautious, so I am thankful for that..but I need to stay positive. My FSH level is at a 9 (they like to see it below an 8 at my doc's office). However back in June when they tested it it was at a10...so it has come down!

Does anyone do acupuncture as well? I was doing acupuncture regularly and let it slip this past month or so....I have so many friends who swear by it.

Sending baby dust and good luck everyone!!!
