IVF/injections question??

I am on 300IU of follistim and 75IU of menopur. So far taken these meds four nights in a row. Tonight will be my fifth night and tomorrow will be my first ultrasound at the fertility clinic. Today I am feeling pretty sore on both sides where my ovaries are. I am wondering if it is fairly normal to be feeling this sore so early? Also, is that a high dose of follistim, or is that pretty standard? I'm so worried about OHSS. Thanks, Carisa

Thank you ladies for responding. I get so nervous taking these meds. I will mention to my RE that I am sore although I am sure you are right that it is normal. Hopefully my ultrasound will go well tomorrow. Thanks again. Carisa

Hello...it is normal to feel a little soreness.Your ovaries are expanding to accommodate all of the follicles you are producing! Good luck to you!!!

I was taking Follistim 225 and menopur 150 (today day 6) and had a little pain.
My RE just got the results from the BW and since my estrogen is more than doubling she reduced the meds to 150 follistim and 75 menopur.
I will mention to your dr that you are feeling sore.

Tomorrow your DR will be abled to tell if you need to lower your dosage. I took Follistim as well, and would get pain also. It's just the follies growing, but if your DR thinks they are growing too fast or too many he will lower your dosage. Don't worry, your DR will monitor you, that's what these U/S are for.

i took follistim last month, lower dose since i was doing IUI and have pcos and my age.. but the soreness should be a good thing, hopefully its those follies growing! try not to worry about ohss.. hopefully your dr will watch you carefully and can lower the dose if needed! good luck! your in my thoughts and prayers!: )

I was takinng 225IU  Gonal-F (same as follistim) and 75IU menopur.   I did not have any OHSS but different people react differently to stims.  I think that your dosage is pretty standard.  I hope you have many follicles on the rise!  Good luck tomorrow with your u/s.
