endep/ elavil/ amitriptyline - what was yr experience?

ok my rheumy prescribed endep for my muscular inflammation. she said i didn't have classical fibro as i have the pain but not painful when touched.
so have you ever used it - please share how you are going with it or how you went with it.
especially if you used it/ have been using it for more than 6mth.
i wd been on it in an instant if i knew it would work long term but i feel that it might regress after some time and would need upping on the dose, which i don't see the point in doing...

anyway so i gave it a go - i took a quarter tablet of the prescribed 10mg dose [2.5mg]
well - immediately sleepy
slept very well
woke very drowsy
generally pain-free [fabulous]
but the exhaustion seemed amplified [yuck]
and it was showing all the signs of being a zombifying mind-acting antidepressant - as designed
so -
the unwanted effects were the prohibiting factor.
a week later i took an eighth of a tablet (1.25mg) and it had the above effects - benefits and detractions - once again but to a lesser degree.
it seems i would rather have the pain than the exhaustion for now..
