Hello,
I've done some reading about Stills Disease and there are many treatment options out there. Are you an adult now? Is this becoming chronic Stills disease for you??? If the Prednisone is not working, I have found sources stating that other medications like non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, plus maybe something like Plaquenil or Methotrexate could replace the Prednisone for you. I have heard the Plaquenil is less likely to cause bad side effects of the two. Also, If I were you I would post your questions in the Arthritis forum because I think the folks in that forum could help you very much too. Again, I would consult your doctor about any medication changes. Good luck to you.

You should speak with your doctor about medication options. We can only give you information in generalities here. Lyrica is approved to treat Fibromyalgia in the US. If you have Fibromyalgia and Arthritis you may need to take more than one medication, but like I mentioned before, this is something you really should discuss with your doctor to make sure you are treating your illness the best way. How long have you had this condition for?

Hello again,
I am not meaning to be nosy, but I did notice another one of your posts and you mentioned you had "Stills Disease," which from what I understand is a young person's form of inflammatory arthritis or RA- perhaps karajo can elaborate.

Anyhow, I would definitely have a talk with your doctor if you think your medication isn't working for you at this point or if you believe you are developing new symptoms. Or maybe you are just looking for a different long term solution? I wasn't totally sure how to help you from your question. Let us know sweetie. We are all here to help. Thanks.

i was on prednisone for a few weeks too and felt great.  went off, everything came beck.  I have no diagnosis yet, going to see the dr soon.  Magnesium and potassium would cause you to have a problem if those levels are low.  But if you take them and your not low you can go high very quickly, like in a few days, and they can cause fatal arrythmias, im not a dr, but just sayin, please please check with your dr before starting those......

Hi and welcome

Have you been dxed w/ anything?  Is muscle pain you only symptom?

If that is the case, have you tried any supplements.  Magnesium is supposed to help w/ muscle pain as well as potssium.  But I would make sure you don't have diabetes before I took potassium.  Low thyroid can also cause muscle pain and overall tiredness.

We all want to help you.  Dusty is very informative and has some good points.

Hello ambika468,
Welcome to the forum,
Prednisone is a strong medication and does sometimes help inflammation for those people who have co-occuring illnesses like Rheumatoid Arthritis or Asthma, or it sounds like in your case you have allergies? Are you looking for an alternative to the Prednisone for Fibromyalgia pain?

Lyrica and Savella are two medications that are FDA approved in the United States for Fibromyalgia pain. I have tried Lyrica myself and think that it is effective for reducing muscle pain, although there are side effects like drowsiness and weight gain. Others on this website might have some feed back for you in regards to Savella, and perhaps some other medications to treat muscle pain. Let me know what your thoughts are. Thanks.
