Sorry, No there isn't as far as I know and I have suffered for over 25 years. I have been to the best doctors available and all you can do is learn what makes you feel better and worse and try to stick with that. Sorry, but at least it won't kill us.

Hi...it all depends on the root cause of ur GERD.....if it is a hiatal hernia, u may try to see if it is up too high and is the cause of many issues...some chiropractors can manipulate them to help lessen the symptoms....surgery is a last resort and many times surgery can cause more issues...so not always the desired results.....and some times things work really well... patience is key as well as moderation.

There is also much to be gained by modifying diet and lifestyle...we have helpful tips in the Health Pages here on MedHelp that may be helpful to u as well..

Dear Gina

I have friends that had very bad GERD and had the surgery sucessfully.  I have a form of the disease called Negative Endoscopy Refux Disease.  A radical diet change and living off Nexium finally helped me feel better.  It only took 6 months. My doctor, who has a lot of experience with this, told me that if you can control the suffering with medication and diet change then do not have surgery.  It doesn't always help.  There can be other problems involved with the symptoms.  Good luck............ Chris

Unfortunately not.  There is a surgery they can do but I talked to my GI about it and unless your GERD is REALLY, REALLY BAD, you would probably feel worse after the surgery.
