Exercise routines for GERD sufferers

I am a volleyball varsity player in our university, and have been recently diagnosed with GERD. My doctor told me to eliminate 'bouncy' exercises, like jogging, and other high-impact exercise routines. My career relies strongly on such, and I could not afford to stop exercising.

Are there any other exercise routines that GERD sufferers like me perform -- aside from walking?

This discussion is related to Hiatal hernia and omeprazole.

@ Selma: Oh yeah I suppose that can help. Thank you so much!

@LazyMoose: Cycling... that sounds really fun. Thank you so much for sharing your friend's story. I was about to break the rules. Hehe.

Bicycling on a more upright 'city' bike.

Over time this could get better. The LES can heal if its really burned up right now, takes a long time. Of course having a hernia adds complications. A friend of mine has this but now he can exercise and snowmobile (very bouncy) again after one year. So now he's eating acidic food again .........not a smart move. Its best to say good bye to pizza , peppers ect.

So stop the bouncy stuff for now and let the LES heal. Time will tell.
