I had a manometry done, Nov 2009.  I can honestly say that it was the worse experience of my life!  The Doctor's Assistant did it and she tried explaining how they are going to do it, but nothing can prepare you for when they poke the pipe in your nose!

The test takes about 30min to do.  They poke the pipe in your nose, then you have to swallow it down, then you are allowed to lay on your side and then she uses a syringe to put water in your mouth and you have to swallow it while she pulls the pipe out.  When she finally pulled the thing out again, my nose started bleeding and I had a very hoarse voice for more than 2 hours afterwards.

If you have to do it, then just get it done.  I wish someone had warned me before the time, cause it was an absolute shock and nightmare.

Sorry you have to go through this, but it can give them a lot of answers on how bad your GERD is.
