GALLSTONE AND SLUDGE FOUND BUT SURGEON CANCELED SURGERY

Ok. I was in the hospital for the last 2 days. I had an MRI done. They found a gallstone as well as sludge. I was scheduled for surgery yesterday to have my gallbladder removed and as i was in PRE OPT getting ready to go into the O R the surgeon canceled surgery and said he didn't think it was my gallbladder. I was then discharged and sent home with OxyCotton. So here i am. Should i go back to ER and see different DR? I have felt sick off and on today. Had a BM and noticed mucus. bad stomach cramps after i ate. I don't know what to do.

Can you make an appointment with a GI dr or new surgeon.  See what they say.  I would not trust the people before.  This is crazy.

Well i was originally having surgery on Aug. 6th with another Dr. He has just been gone. I went to ER cause i was in pain and seen his on call Dr. When i first had tests done i didn't have stones or sludge nothing. CT was normal, Ultrasound. So don't get to discouraged. Everyone is different and could have different symptoms. I also get pain between my shoulders. It's between my right rib and hip area as well. I feel sick all the time. So i would go to the dr. if they don't help you like mine didn't go to ER! My reg. Dr. told me it was just Gas. So over the course on just 3 weeks i have developed a stone and sludge?? I'm just so upset.... I hope everything works out for you. DAR. Thanks for hearing me out : )

Wow how confusing for you!  I cant believe once they finally got the evidence from the MRI for stones and sludge they would decide to cancell your surgery.  That makes no sense?????  I would be really frustrated. DId you really question him to why he thought this?
I have had upper right side pain for a long time but recently it is accompanied by extreme pressure under my sternum and pain between my shoulder blades everytime I eat.  Thursday I was in so much pain I contemplated going to the ER.  I ened up seeing a doctor down the hall from the doctor I work for, he is a colorectal dr. thought maybe I was just really constipated but he thinks gallbladder.   Had an ultrasound on Friday tech said she did not see gallstones. Had a lot of blood work but do not know the results yet.  I will see him on Tuesday again.  With your story and all the different posts good and bad after having gallbladder removed, It can be so confusing.  I just wish they had a way of knowing for certain.   Well good luck to you with having both stones and sludge I would get a second opinion from another surgeon.

hmm I would ask the surgeon why he abruptly canceled your surgery after scheduling it.  I certainly would not feel that comfortable with him changing his mind like this.  Your GB function is normal at 65% according to your hida scan but the stone or  stones could be causing issues for you. You should probably seek a second opinion.
